My name is Rachelle, and I am pleased to welcome you. With over 25 years of dedicated experience in Social Work, I have consistently advocated for individuals requiring support. Throughout my career, I have served in various roles, working with families and individuals while evaluating the effectiveness of social systems. I have been a staunch advocate for the rights and welfare of Native American children and families, leveraging this experience to support vulnerable student populations and empower individuals of all ages to develop self-efficacy and purpose. My contributions extend beyond policy analysis; I have actively participated in the design and implementation of social welfare programs with a strong commitment to compassion.
I hold a master’s degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley, along with credentials in School Social Work and School Counseling, which allows me to merge academic understanding with extensive practical experience. My commitment to equity is fundamental to my work. As an emotional architect, I have taken on the challenge of promoting the concept of “well-spaces” within public schools, aiming to cultivate resilience and foster a sense of belonging. My mission is to embody the Hawaiian saying, “E hele me ka pu’olo”—to improve every individual, place, or situation.
Currently, I serve as a mental wellness consultant and counselor, as well as an Associate Social Worker based in Alamo, California. I embrace adaptability in my professional pursuits, guided by the belief that individuals have the capacity to "change their stars." We are dynamic beings, capable of evolution and growth. To further this vision, I founded Gliszen Therapeutic, focusing on well-being-related projects and providing direct support through workshops, tools, and personalized assistance.
A passion for entering systems, evaluating their processes, and developing new and innovative solutions to improve outcomes and enhance positive experiences for all.
Service is fundamental to the role of a social worker, with the phrase "meet them where they are" at its core. Social work involves providing resources, assessing systems, and offering personal support.
We are all shaped by our experiences. Some of us can't help ourselves but to step out of the mold every once in a while and try something new, to have the freedom to explore. That's Gliszen.
